Out-of-School AmeriCorps Members

AmeriCorps members will plan and lead youth programming during out-of-school time in small communities where there are no schools. Members will build developmental assets within youth through academic assistance, enrichment activities, and service-learning opportunities. Members will analyze the needs in these communities and develop and utilze already existing resources for provide additional youth and family programming in out-of-school time.

Service Activities

Members will recruit volunteers, identify resources, and provide after school programming for youth who live in small communitiies without schools. Members will provide academic assistance, enrichment activities, and service-learning opportunities.

Community Need Addressed

These half-time AmeriCorps members will provide out of school programming in small communities where there are no schools. This will provide a safe place where youth can go after school to get academic assistance, and engage in enrichment and service-learning opportunities.

Position Outcomes

High barrier youth being served will show an increased possession of developmental assets, an increase in school engagement, higher aspirations for their future, an increased likelihood of high school graduation. These small communities will recruit volunteers, analyze needs, identify resources and develop family and youth programming to take place during out-of-school time.
