  • About Us
    MHAGC strives to raise awareness of mental health issues and to make mental wellness more visible as a health priority in Greenville.
    We an abundance of educational programs for all ages. Our Mental Health Matters! educational programs provide general information about behavioral health and assist with those who are currently struggling, individuals who have lost loved ones, and community members wanting to join the MHAGC volunteer team. Additionally, MHAGC has implemented two great resources for those in need: CRISISline and TEENline. We also offer screening for depression and other mental health issues.
  • Our Impact
    MHAGC has a unique expertise regarding suicide prevention, intervention, and after-care in our Greenville community through our Crisis Intervention Services (CIS) program, including our Survivors of Suicide support group and closed grief groups. We have been recognized through the certification by the American Association of Suicidology. The CRISISline part of the CIS program was developed in June, 1969. On March 19, 1990, MHAGC assumed management. Over these past 21 years, CRISISline has provided 24/7 service without interruption. This equates to over 183,960 service hours of handling more than 302,500 calls. The line has expanded over the years to cover five counties and handle more than 11,000 calls annually.

GCBH AmeriCorps State Service Program

Mental Health America of Greenville County (MHAGC) is a nonprofit organization that positively impacts mental health through advocacy, awareness, and service in Upstate SC. MHAGC provides consumer support services for individuals living with chronic mental illness and operates and operates a 24/7 CRISISline and TEENline phone/online chat/texting service to provide nonjudgmental listening and information on community resources. MHAGC’s AmeriCorps Program exists to more directly support consumers of its services and to decrease the number of CRISISline and TEENline’s missed requests for service. AmeriCorps members serve in a variety of roles including directly working with support service consumers, volunteer recruitment and coordination, and serving as a CRISISline/TEENline phone worker.
