Firewall Centers provides daily, school-based tutoring and mentoring services designed to help students achieve academic success, build character, and transform into servant leaders.
AmeriCorps Firewall is a tutoring program that operates during after-school hours, and its overarching goal is to improve the educational and behavioral outcomes of students that attend these low-achieving middle and high schools. The program’s innovative approach ensures close monitoring from AmeriCorps Members, called Mentors. As a result, students complete their homework, prepare for exams, and improve their test scores and grades. A point-based incentive system and life skills/character building curriculum also provides students with the socio-emotional support they need to better their behavior and stay motivated, preventing them from falling behind and getting discouraged as often happens to at-risk, lower-performing students.
