The Veterans Coordinator will plan and facilitate all activities during the Veterans Family Camp sessions. The Veterans Coordinator will reach out to organizations that serve veterans and make partnerships with these organizations. By spreading the word about the Veterans Family Camp sessions, the Veterans Coordinator will bring more families to enjoy the vacation camp has to offer.

Service Activities

- Engage in providing outreach for veterans programs to current and potential clients.
- Identify public and private organizations to collaborate with on outreach and program development.
- Plan and facilitate activities during Veterans Family Camp sessions.
- Attend appropriate meetings and conferences to gain information and increase awareness of the Family Camp program.
- Recruit volunteers to assist in Veterans Camp sessions.
- Distribute surveys to attendees of camp; then collect results.
- Update and maintain database of veteran organizations, clubs, etc for outreach mailings and contacts.

Community Need Addressed

This position will address the community need of providing resources to Veterans and their families. This position allows Veterans and their families to enjoy time together in a camp setting, participating in the high ropes course, hiking, and other nature-based activities. The Easter Seals Wisconsin veterans programming provides therapeutic recreational activities and programs at Camp Wawbeek for veterans with or without disabilities and their families. This program is maintained through partnerships with several organizations that serve veterans.

Position Outcomes

This position has a desired outcome of the veteran and his/her family having an enjoyable, accessible camp experience. This position also has a desired outcome of providing partnerships with veterans and organizations that serve veterans.

AmeriCorps Members receive room and board during their weekends spent at camp. AmeriCorps Members receive a $1,250 living allowance, as well as a $1,212.44 education award upon successful completion of service.
