Members will utilize the Master Plan to develop strategies and activities to carry out the community vision laid out in the plan. To best accomplish this, members serve to build capacity for the following City of Flint departments and partners: Planning Department, Blight Division, Parks Division, Neighborhood Engagement Hub, Recovery Office, Genesee County Land Bank.

Service Activities

Member tasks might involve: Tracking the progress of Master Plan implementation and identifying areas of future efforts; Meeting with community groups to build relationships and to improve community between the City and target groups; Conducting and providing research and data; Providing resource management for neighborhoods, parks, the Blight Division, the Land Bank, the Neighborhood Engagement Hub, the Chief Recovery Officer and other groups; Developing and managing volunteer recruitment and retention systems; Collaborating with National Service members in the city on shared project.

Community Need Addressed

A Master Plan is a blueprint for the future. It is a comprehensive, community visions that is intended to guide the City over a longer period of time. The Master Plan contains a set of policies, required by state law, that direct and lay the ground work future growth and development. Additionally, the Plan identifies potential strategies that help to effectively guide City leaders in making substantive and thoughtful decisions for the community.
