AmeriCorps VISTA - Communication Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator VISTA will (1) develop recruitment and training plans for UVU SCUP programs, (2) develop and pilot an improvement plan process for UVU PREP students who did not perform well in the previous year’s PREP program, (3) create a database of staff trainings and design a staff training schedule, and (4) create and implement a strategic plan for UVU PREP recruitment. The Communications Coordinator will implement projects and build capacity by designing recruitment plans, tools and materials; helping students improve in the program; and creating staff trainings.

Service Activities

The Communications Coordinator VISTA will design recruitment materials, attend job fairs, assess existing recruitment efforts, create a training database for staff, build relationships with key community partners, set-up new recruiting events, and promote UVU SCUP in the community.

Community Need Addressed

This VISTA position is designed to help UVU SCUP serve additional youth effectively and in so doing, help UVU SCUP more fully fulfill its mission to provide education assistance to the Central Utah region to increase academic stability, enhance economic viability, and raise awareness of programs that directly benefit community members.

Position Outcomes

Outcomes include: increased student participation in UVU SCUP, improved performance in UVU PREP, and improved staff trainings.
