Arizona Conservation Corps, the US Forest Service (USFS), and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) invites you to join the Veterans Fire Corps for an on the job training experience in forestry, conservation, and wildland fire fuels management. Our program offices are seeking physically capable military veterans between the ages of 21 and 37 who are willing to operate out of Tucson or Flagstaff AZ, for a five to six month term of service. The program is designed to provide recent era veterans with the technical skill and physical ability for service in federal wildland firefighting careers.

Service Activities

After an intensive training period crews utilize a variety of power tools such as chainsaws or brush cutters, and hand tools to reduce fire fuels and other fire mitigations projects.

Community Need Addressed

The Veterans Fire Corps program provides training and on-the-job experience for post 9-11 era veterans interested in entering into careers and gaining experience in natural resource management and wildland fire.
All the while crews will be completing fire fuels reduction projects, helping with fire preparedness and other fire mitigation projects.

Position Outcomes

The veterans fire corps aims to prepare recent era veterans for wildland fire positions and land management agencies.
