This position add targeted enrichment and tutoring to enhance the work of our amazing team, who already provide enriching educational activities, teach teamwork and social skills, and support children as they grow and learn. You will help build, create, and provide a program that supplements a strong existing program, while targeting and closing recent student learning gaps.

Service Activities

Works with the Director of Child Care and Senior Director of Programs to provide specified tutoring and enrichment opportunities on-site within our six licensed school age childcare programs. Works in partnership with other staff to create and implement this programming through STEM, math, and language arts curriculum for improving pandemic learning loss.
Implements strategies for motivating children to achieve targeted learning goals. Implements curriculum within established guidelines. Provides direction for the children within the programs.
Trains, develops, schedules and directs grant funded staff and volunteers as needed to support these aims. Assists with development of each site’s childcare programs to fulfill these enrichment and tutoring objectives.
Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging and relationships among youth and within families.
Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents and guardians. Engages parents and guardians as volunteers and connects them to the Y.
Assists in the marketing, distribution, and direct communication of program information.
Models relationship-building skills and encourages leadership by example in all interactions utilizing the Y’s core character values.
Ensures all program inquiries and complaints are addressed appropriately in a timely manner.
Maintains required program records including student progress reports as assigned.
Assists with coordinated efforts of the staff team to ensure the security of the offsite program location in order to protect the safety of the members, participants, staff and the public.
Maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
Assists with ordering and maintains all tutoring program supplies.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, trainings, and special activities.
Participates in STARS continuing education and completes required ongoing trainings as required by the Y including but not limited to Child Abuse Prevention training.

Community Need Addressed

Every day hundreds of children enjoy the YMCA Student Care program as fun and engaging school-site, before and after school care. A new and dynamic program has been added to Student Care, which targets pandemic learning loss in school age children. Our Tutor and Enrichment Programs provide one on one tutoring opportunities as well as hands on STEAM based experiences. With the help of volunteers and a well-organized STEAM curriculum.
