Positions focus on conservation, restoration and community engagement. Members serve at small non-profits, conservation districts and local/federal government agencies educating the public about our state’s ecosystems and human impact upon the environment; completing habitat restoration projects; and performing field and lab work to help with monitoring and data collection. Skills gained while serving can be translated to multiple career paths in environmental conservation.

Service Activities

Members may lead habitat restoration projects that include invasive species removal, tree/shrub planting or trail building; perform water quality monitoring and species locating in various rivers and waterways; and educate the public on the area's unique habitats, wildlife and endangered species through interactive outdoor excursions and classroom presentations.

Community Need Addressed

Our environmental stewardship programs include providing education to the public about local environmental concerns or crises and changes they can make to have a positive impact on protecting the environment and native wildlife, as well as coordinating habitat restoration projects to protect endangered lands and native species.

Position Outcomes

A larger percentage of Washington State citizens will have better knowledge of the impact they have on the environment, and what they can do to ensure their impact is positive. In addition, restoration projects will seek to improve and recover degraded ecosystems.
