Position Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the Bed Program - reviewing applications for requests for beds; communication with families eligible for donation, and arrangement of transportation logistics.
2. Coordinate the "Christmas Together" program - screening families requesting assistance; matching families in need with donors and subsequently serving as liaison between both parties; coordination of program volunteers
3. Assist with social services with one-on-one meetings with people seeking assistance with rent, utilities, etc., filling out necessary paperwork to complete applications (about 8 hours/week, starting after Christmas season)

Service Activities

Overseeing our Social Services department, the Bed Program, Reentry program and seasonal programs is our Member and Program Services department, which provides emergency assistance to our neighbors in need. In this position, you will coordinate the Bed Program – which provides beds to families in need; coordinate a Christmas/holiday program, as well as help to facilitate the annual Fan and A/C distribution program in the summer. This position will include providing support for other departments, such as Social Services and the Choice Pantry, in between the seasonal programs. You will have ample opportunity to exercise your organizational and relational skills in this position.

VVC members serve full-time in a unique work placement with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. They live together in a house provided by the program, in the West End neighborhood of Cincinnati, blocks from SVDP’s Outreach Center. One hundred percent of VVC members finish the program with a meaningful next-step in their career.

Community Need Addressed

Coordination of the "Christmas Together" gift sponsorship program at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, as well as the bed distribution program to families in need.

Position Outcomes

Families-in-need will be partnered with donors seeking to provide gifts during the Christmas season, and families in need will be able to receive beds.

This program also covers: - three retreats during the program year - weekly formation - monthly leadership development program, including professional mentor - all living expenses (room, utilities, board, internet) - health insurance - renter's insurance - monthly personal stipend ($100) - monthly phone stipend ($50) - monthly transportation stipend ($30 - local bus tickets) - plus an Education Award ($5,775) upon completion of service
