Description
St. Vincent de Paul provides assistance without regard to race or creed. As a significant number of neighbors requesting assistance from SVDP speak Spanish as their first language, speaking with these neighbors in their native language provides dignity and respect and ensures they are understood and their needs are met. In this position, you will assist the organization by providing interpretation for meetings with neighbors across all of our direct service programs. You will also help to develop bi-lingual promotional materials and assist Conference Vincentians in their communications with Spanish speaking neighbors. Applicants must have strong bilingual literacy skills in both English and Spanish. This position will be complemented with a full-time position with our Social Services team.
This position is part of the Vincentian Volunteers of Cincinnati (VVC) program, a faith-based, year-long, residential service program, providing young adults an opportunity to grow in faith, friendship and service by providing both direct and indirect service to our neighbors in need.
VVC members serve full-time in a unique work placement with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul - Cincinnati. They live together in a house provided by the program in the West End neighborhood of Cincinnati, blocks from SVDP’s Neyer Outreach Center. The program is an 11-month commitment, running late August through late July and provides members with excellent professional experience in a supportive context.
