South Bronx United, a non profit youth development organization, uses soccer as a tool for social change. South Bronx United aims to help youth build character, teamwork, and leadership so they can succeed in high school, college, careers, their community, and beyond.
South Bronx United is seeking energetic individuals with a passion for youth development and sports to join the Up2Us Coach program. Each South Bronx United UpUs Coach will serve as Team Mentor and head or assistant soccer coach for a team of youth within the SBU Academy program.
As a Team Mentor and Coach, the Up2Us Coach will:
- Serve as first point of staff level contact for a group of approximately 20 youth
- Help plan, set, and keep students on their program schedule
- Maintain weekly contact with each mentee and their parents in person and by phone
- Monitor student academic performance, and assist in the collection of student report cards and other school documents
- Serve as head/assistant coach for 1 SBU travel team, planning and leading training sessions, coaching games, and traveling with students to games/events
- Track attendance data
- Complete progress reports for each mentee two times per year
- Attend Up2Us Coach orientation
- Completion of timesheets bi-weekly
- Attend Coach Training Institute (dates to be announced by Program Manager)

Desired Certifications or Qualifications
- U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents
- Must be 18 years old, or 17 with written parental/guardian consent
- Must have, or be working toward a High School diploma, GED, or its equivalent
- Previous coaching experience is not necessary
- Knowledge of Spanish and/or French is a plus
