Description
Classes
Our results-oriented classes are free and open to high school-aged teens of all fitness levels. They take place after school at select high schools, community centers and fitness facilities in the greater Seattle area. Classes are also offered during the school day at our Interagency Academy locations. Upower coaches provide instruction in both group and one-on-one settings, ensuring you get the attention you need. The environment is fun, safe and structured. You can start up at anytime.
Workouts
We scale the workouts so they’re right for all fitness levels and you feel comfortable exercising and advancing when you’re ready. No class is ever the same. We mix up cardio conditioning, strength training, mobility movements, fitness games, yoga and even play sports!
Health & Wellness Component
Teaching the benefits of eating well and being healthier is an important part of what we do. Our classes show you how simple changes in diet and lifestyle will make a positive impact on your life. We run a nutritional challenge where new foods are introduced and bring in guest speakers who share their expertise on health-related topics. In partnership with Beecher’s Pure Food Kids Foundation, we put on interactive workshops where you learn how to make better food choices and cook a healthy meal.
What to Expect
You’re going to work hard and improve your fitness abilities. You will learn about good nutrition and how to develop better eating habits. The workouts will get easier if you stick with it. You will have more energy, be stronger and feel healthier. You might surprise yourself with what you’re accomplishing.
Upower volunteers are coaches. We owe our success to the generosity, skill sets and enthusiasm of those who give their time to teach our classes. Whether you’re an experienced athletic instructor or a fitness fan who enjoys working with teens, come join our team. Coaching for Upower is fun, active and very rewarding.
Coaches set the tone for a positive, structured and productive environment. We have lead and assistant coaches who run classes together. Lead coaches provide the overall instruction, teach skills and ensure teens have correct form. Assistant coaches support lead coaches, offer encouragement and help teens get through the workouts. All coaches advocate the importance of developing and maintaining healthier habits. Great Upower coaches are those who wish to teach and impact lives, laugh and have fun!
