Description
Operation Coach is an extension of the CAA program. Operation Coach provides post-9/11 veterans with support and professional development while giving back to their community as a coach mentor for underserved youth. AmeriCorps Operation Coach coaches serve as AmeriCorps members for the duration of their service term, which is either 900 or 1700 hours, not to exceed a full year.
Responsibilities
• Encourage participants to gain and develop life skills, knowledge, and techniques through sport, using lessons learned at Up2Us Sports’ best in class training events
• Perform data collection activities as directed by your CAA Program Manager
• Act as a role model, gaining the respect and trust of the community and youth served
• Completion of twice monthly reflection logs
• Attend/participate in CAA trainings, meetings, and special initiatives
Eligibility Requirements
• Veteran of any branch of US Armed Forces with an Honorable Discharge
• Pass all necessary Federal and State background checks
• Must have, or be working toward, a High School diploma, GED or it’s equivalent
• Ability to commit to required hours of CAA service
