University Eastside Community Collaborative (UECC)

The UECC strives to improve the lives of youth in the Eastside of Riverside by providing academic assistance in their schools, providing a safe and welcoming after-school environment, and engaging Eastside residents in service to their community.

• About Us
  Each year, 80 college students become year-long mentors and tutors for students in the Eastside of Riverside. These college students serve in 8 schools and 3 community centers. They become positive role models and provide academic assistance in Math and English Language Arts to students in grades K-12. UECC offers tutoring to students who need it the most in the City of Riverside and an opportunity for college students to serve their community.
  
  Thanks to AmeriCorps and community partnerships, thousands of youth have benefited from the UECC’s academic assistance, youth programs and community service projects.
• Our Impact
  UECC AmeriCorps mentors work with Eastside elementary, middle and high school students who are performing below grade level in language arts and math. Mentors work under teacher supervision in schools or recreation supervisors in community centers, addressing challenging concepts according to state-approved methods and materials. Each AmeriCorps member is assigned to 10 students in grades K-12 to tutor all year in classrooms and/or in after school programs. UECC's goal is to tutor students who are scoring below grade level and tutor to improve to at or above grade level. Members also serve their community through volunteer days at community gardens, street clean ups, and city events.
