Houston Summer Youth Crew Member

Summer Youth Crew Members (ages 17-21) spend 8 weeks giving back to public land throughout the Houston area. After several days of classroom training, their Crew Leaders transport the crew to project sites via a Texas Conservation Corps vehicle. General schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. At the end of the season, the Houston Summer Crews will join the Austin Summer Crews in a week long project where they'll be able to camp under the stars.

Service Activities

Trail maintenance, fence construction, general habitat restoration.

Community Need Addressed

This program is for current high school students and recent high school graduates to spend a summer working on conservation projects throughout the City of Houston & Harris County. Members will work on trail improvement and habitat restoration projects led by two adult Crew Leaders. Opportunities for travel and camping will be provided. Crews will focus on building conservation skills and engaging in environmental education. The program works in partnership with several agencies and organizations dedicated to serving youth and the environment.
