Description
Interested in getting paid to camp and travel around Texas while exploring different ecosystems and landscapes? Texas Conservation Corps Trails Across Texas (TAT) Crew members ages 18-28 will work in state parks across Texas maintaining and constructing trails and trail structures. Projects may include building and maintaining trails, constructing stone retaining walls, check steps, boardwalks, chainsaw work, and ADA compliant trails. Members will be trained in using tools such as chainsaws, picks, pruning saws, loppers, and rock bars. Crews travel to out-of-town project sites often, camping for 10 days at a time. No experience or skills required and all experiences welcome!

GED
Desired Certifications or Qualifications
-High school diploma or GED
-Between the ages of 18-28 (crew members) or 21-28 (crew leaders)
-US Citizenship or lawful permanent US Resident
-Ability to pass a National Service Criminal History Check
-Ability to hike 3-12 miles per day in rugged terrain, often wearing a 45lb backpack and carrying tools.
-Ability to lift up to 35 pounds repeatedly and use hand and power tools
-Commitment to completing an entire term of service
-Strong service ethic and desire to serve the community and the environment
-Ability to work with a diverse group of people
-Willingness to work long, hard hours in all weather conditions; ability to be away on overnight trips for up to 10 days at a time
-Crew leader only: Clean 3-year Driving Record
-Crew leader only: At least 5 months of previous hands-on conservation experience including but not limited to: chainsaws, habitat restoration, invasive species removal, trail work (no experience is necessary for crew members)
