I'm choosing to take a service year because I believe deeply in serving and helping others. After studying social work in college, I wanted to find something that I could do that would allow me to impact others while also challenging myself and ultimately, help me grow as a future social worker. I feel that taking a service year allows me to work on the tools that I need to be a social worker while also helping me grow as a person.
I am a recent college graduate that will begin working with Communities in Schools of Central Texas in September. I received a Bachelor of Social Work and am interested in getting my masters after my service year. Ultimately, my goal is to be a school social worker and work with elementary and middle school students. I'm from outside of Nashville, TN and am so excited to be heading to Austin this fall.
