English as a Second Language (ESL) instructors teach English to recent immigrants, refugees, and individuals wanting to improve their English skills to compete in the workforce throughout the Austin and Houston regions. Daily schedules can range from a typical 9-5, or members may teach a few classes throughout the day or night depending on the needs of the community being served. Proficiency in Spanish is useful, but certainly not required.

We offer plenty of mentorship sessions and professional development training. For ESL Instructors, they will all be trained in the English Forward curriculum and receive their Administrator certification for Best Plus. In addition, all AmeriCorps members will receive Motivational Interviewing training, Trauma-Informed Care Training, and plenty more.
