Do you want to hone your teaching and leadership skills in a professional environment? Adult Basic Education (ABE) instructors help adults learn basic reading and writing skills to prepare them for their GED or High School Equivalency exams. ABE Instructors help adults compete in the workforce with the tools of literacy and education. Classes are typically small, with one-on-one instruction common. Times of classes may vary, depending on clients' needs.

Additional Benefits

Our program is partnered with affordable and fully furnished student housing. While you are still in charge of the lease, this partnership makes moving or relocating much easier. We offer plenty of mentorship sessions and professional development training. For ABE Instructors, they will all be trained in the Literacy Forward curriculum. In addition, all AmeriCorps members will receive Motivational Interviewing training, Trauma-Informed Care Training, and plenty more.
