The SCI AmeriCorps program connects youth with relationships, experiences and resources they need to succeed. Our Members support youth achievement through volunteer outreach and capacity building that provides leadership training and community service opportunities for youth.
SCI AmeriCorps is currently looking for members to fill Volunteer Outreach Coordinator (VOC) positions for a 1700-hour service commitment between September 2020 and June 2021. Since 2007, SCI AmeriCorps members have served at various host sites, who are aligned with the mission of Social Capital Inc. The VOC will develop and implement practices for effective volunteer engagement at their host sites by focusing on SCI's core values of relationship development and nurturing local social networks.
HOST SITE OPPORTUNITY ─ Codman Square Health Center
The SCI AmeriCorps member will:
~ Build bridges in Dorchester across sub-communities through management of the MyDorchester Volunteer Program and mydorchester.org, presenting at civic association meetings, and organizing various community events.
~ Manage volunteer events like the Holiday Gift Giveaway and Boston Shines, as well as engage community members at the Dorchester Winter Farmers Market and Tax Clinics.
~ Manage the social media accounts, website, and weekly email blasts for MyDorchester. Conduct outreach to local businesses for potential to do partner promotions with MyDorchester.
~ Engage community partners who have a focus on education to leverage student volunteers including Codman Academy, Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD), Healthworks Community Fitness, TechBoston Academy, and The Daily Table.

Able to commit to Full-Time service in local communities with diverse residents
Effective communication skills to conduct community outreach through marketing strategies and civic engagement
