Description
The Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA will be hosting four highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals for the summer as Programs Project Coordinators. At the start of service (April-June), members will primarily serve to provide administrative duties and coordination efforts for serveral programs occurring on a 1500-acre site. Programs include:
All-boys and all-girls residential camping programs for youth, ages 7-17
Co-ed travel and service leadership programs based from BCCYMCA campuses, and embarking on local day-long and 3-day trips for community service, cultural partnerships, and backcountry navigation
Co-ed day camp serving up to 100 campers per day, ages 4-15
Later in their term of service (June-August), the members will continue to provide coordination support across all programs, while also having the opportunity to directly lead projects with youth in our camps and travel programs. This may include:
Environmental stewardship education
Trail work
Community service
Local community partnerships with cultural institutions
Engaging as a key member as part of a hun, high energy, and well-respected multi-dimensional summer camp.
During the last months of their service (late August-October), members will continue to help administratively to close out summer programs, while also directly engaging in coordinating and leading group stays by schools and colleges through the outdoor center programming. Outdoor center programming includes both day and overnight multi-day visits by groups to engage in outdoor education and group facilitation.
This position is a part of SCA Massachusetts Conservation Corps, a 30-week AmeriCorps program focused on leadership development, completing critical conservation service projects, and building a sense of community. If you’ve ever wanted to learn the hard and soft skills of being a conservation leader, come join this community of like-minded, service oriented individuals and help us tackle some of Massachusetts most pressing conservation issues.
