Disaster Recovery AmeriCorps Team

Description

AmeriCorps members that serve with SBP directly impact the lives of our clients’ by contributing to the SBP mission: shrinking the time between disaster and recovery. Members work with clients and volunteers to rebuild homes damaged by natural disasters. Since 2006, SBP has rebuilt 2000+ homes and developed affordable housing for those impacted by natural disasters.

Essential Functions of Position:
● Maintain a clean, safe, and organized worksite.
● Ensure that all construction work is of the highest quality. (No prior experience required; training provided)
● Actively participate in construction projects completing each phase of construction on schedule with or without the presence of volunteers.
● Interact professionally and maintain a positive attitude when interacting with other team members, staff, homeowners, and volunteers.
● Maintain the ability to perform strenuous, physical labor in different climates, over long periods of time.
● Supervise, participate alongside, and provide effective training and constructive feedback to volunteers who are completing insulation, drywall, mudding, painting, flooring, trim, doors, and other phases of construction.

Be steps away from the music, architecture, restaurants, and nightlife in one of the most iconic cities in the US by serving with us in New Orleans! You can bike through City Park or walk your dog on the trails in Audubon, all while enjoying jazz music and hot beignets. The culture of New Orleans is like no other in the US where communities come together to enjoy the Big Easy lifestyle. Serve for 10 months or stay forever as you fall in love and feed your passions in NOLA.

Living Allowance

$2100 - $2100 monthly

Additional Benefits

An additional $175 monthly housing stipend for individuals who have previously served in AmeriCorps, NCCC, or VISTA.
