Why Apply
Inside each of us lives a story waiting to unfold. Add more to your story by connecting to
someone else’s. When you become a Saga Education AmeriCorps Member Math Fellow, you don’t just learn how to tutor high school students math. You learn how to show up. For complex formulas. For complex lives. For hard days and hard-earned high fives.

A service-year with Saga is your chance to make a real difference. Through daily tutoring sessions with a small number of students, you’ll deliver high-quality, personalized instruction that helps young people thrive. In the process, you’ll forge lasting relationships -- with your students, their families, and your team of Fellows.

    Our Fellows
Our Fellows are selected from a diverse group of college majors and backgrounds across the United States to serve our students as math tutors; each Fellow brings their unique skill set to assist students’ success. Now more than ever we need talented, caring, and capable people committed to supporting our students in their academic and social development. Through this service year opportunity, our Fellows develop leadership skills, participate in professional development workshops, engage in public speaking and much more. This is not only a positive learning experience for our students but for our Fellows as well!
  • Our Impact
Data shows that our tutoring methods dramatically improve what students can achieve. In a randomized control trial by the University of Chicago Crime Lab, high dosage tutoring in 12 of the city’s lowest performing high schools produced remarkable results.

    - 40% of students without high dosage tutoring failed their math class–compared to 20% of students in high dosage tutoring.
    - High dosage tutoring reduced the chance that students failed their other high school courses by about one-quarter.
    - High dosage tutoring closed the achievement gap by 30% within one year.
