The K-8 Librarian is responsible for maintaining and improving the organization of school library resources, collaborating with faculty to assist students in finding necessary resources to enhance classroom instruction, passing on a love of reading to K-8 students, and teaching fundamental skills for navigating library resources.

This position requires additional service through after-school activity support and bus driving.

Service Activities

K-8 Library Instruction. Meetings with K-8 faculty. Bus Driving. Tutoring. Mentoring.

Community Need Addressed

This position, in conjunction with the Red Cloud Volunteer and AmeriCorps programs, will provide library class for grades K-8 in addition to academic enrichment in the after-school space and bus driving support.

Position Outcomes

Students will grow in their love for reading, learn the fundamentals of using a library and its resources. and learn to find necessary materials and resources to enhance classroom instruction.

Through the after-school space, students will also develop increased social and emotional capacities, as well as academic enrichment that will increase student achievement in STEM-related areas.

Through bus driving, the AmeriCorps member will meet a critical need of helping Red Cloud students get to and from school.
