Environmental Stewardship- AmeriCorps Member

Environmental members will serve at conservation districts and grass-root non-profits to address water quality issues caused by unregulated mining practices, poor agricultural management, and weather related issues. Members will also provide community outreach and environmental education.

Water quality is a pressing issue for Pennsylvania as the state has more rivers than any other state in the union except for Alaska. Both clean and contaminated water drains through a watershed; so it is important to implement conservation practices and restoration projects to help keep our streams and rivers healthy.

Position Outcomes

Miles of trails or waterways owned or maintained by national parks, state parks, city parks, county parks, or tribal governments; non-profits when for public use or the public good; and public easements; will be improved.
