Service Year + Opportunity Youth

Opportunity youth, sometimes referred to as disconnected youth, are American youth aged 16-24 who are neither in school nor employed. Service years — full-time paid service experiences that develop real-world skills through hands-on service — are a powerful but little-understood strategy to change the life trajectory of opportunity youth.

Service years are uniquely designed to provide the infrastructure that opportunity youth need to define clear goals, receive reliable supports that help them connect to their purpose, identify solutions to their current reality, and ultimately change the trajectory of their lives.
