Community Need Addressed
Team Rubicon is committed to helping underserved communities impacted by disasters. At our core, Team Rubicon is about neighbors helping neighbors. When crisis strikes our communities, we come together to help others on their darkest day. As some veterans transition from military to civilian life, it can be difficult to regain the purpose, community, and identity that is apparent in the military. Continued service through disaster response allows many veterans to regain that sense of mission-focus, that feeling of being a part of something larger than oneself. Team Rubicon is BUILT TO SERVE.
Position Outcomes
The goal is to build disaster management at a local level to more appropriately and proficiently deliver disaster recovery assistance on an immediate as well as long-term scale as well as have a more consistent presence in the community during non-disaster times. aster recovery assistance on an immediate as well as long-term scale as well as have a more consistent presence in the community during non-disaster times. Team Rubicon focuses on serving vulnerable and at-risk populations affected by disaster. While the initial damage and trauma of natural disasters will impact any population regardless of socio-economic factors, the financial burden of recovery and rebuilding has dramatic and long-lasting repercussions on many rural and urban populations. Many lack proper insurance and public and private resources allowing natural disasters to disproportionately impact poor and marginalized communities, making it harder for those living in poverty or at low incomes to recover.
