The Careers Program VISTA will expand the capacity of our already successful career program allowing the organization to advance the careers of our veteran members. The VISTA will be creating and refining systems for conducting case management of veterans in career transition to allow the LSVA to go deeper with the assessment and follow up with members. The VISTA will also assist in developing the framework and conducting new iterations of our successful Warrior for Life professional networking luncheon. VISTA will also develop a framework for and attend outreach events like job fairs to represent LSVA and promote our programming while recruiting veterans in career transition for Warrior for Life.

Service Activities

Create and redefine case management systems
Assess current systems and processes at LSVA
Follow up with LSVA members
Develop and expand events such as networking luncheons and job fairs
Recruit Veterans in transition

Community Need Addressed

Houston has a large number of veterans, many of whom are transitioning from Military to Civilian life. Building a career after the military can be difficult, challenges with employment contribute to homelessness among veterans. This position helps increase Lone Star Veteran's Association's ability to help veterans build their careers.
