Description

Are you passionate about empowering underserved youth? Do you love the outdoors? If the answer is yes, we urge you to consider serving with us at Austin Sunshine Camps. Spend every day surrounded by nature in one of Austin’s most popular city parks! Located in the heart of Zilker Park, Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps (ASC) works to engage and empower youth through education and outdoor experiences. ASC provides opportunities for youth ages 7-15 in Central Texas through our week-long residential summer camps at Zilker Park and Lake Travis and through our Year Round Programming, serving our summer campers and parents during the school year. We serve youth from low-income families and are able to offer ALL of our programs completely free of charge! In June of 2015, we opened a brand new facility which has positioned ASC to expand the reach of our programs and serve more youth than ever before in out 80+ years of operation. We are excited to bring a VISTA on board to create processes and strategies around program development to new audiences and continue to advance our efforts towards parent outreach. The development of these important operational areas will help ensure we have the right structures in place to serve and support Austin-area youth for years to come!

Member Duties: Austin Sunshine Camps (ASC) is seeking a motivated, mission-driven individual to support programming and outreach efforts. This position includes but is not limited to developing programming for summer campers ages 8-15, creating a daily schedule of program activities, advancing parent outreach, outcomes management, program evaluation and more. This project will have the capacity to impact youth served in our year-round program and in our summer camps. ASC will serve more than 1,000 low-income youth in 208-2019. Of the youth that attending Sunshine Camp in 2018, the majority of campers came from households living below the poverty level, with 50% of children participating were from families enrolled in the state’s Food Stamp Program. Join us during this exciting time at Austin Sunshine Camps as we are on the verge of a robust expansion and growth period within the organization and the community
