OneStar Foundation's mission is to connect partners and resources to build a stronger nonprofit sector in Texas. As the Texas state service commission, OneStar currently administers $14.3 million in AmeriCorps State grants to 28 organizations supporting more than 2,400 AmeriCorps members that address the State of Texas’s needs in the areas of Capacity Building, Disaster Services, Economic Opportunity, Education, Environmental Stewardship, and Healthy Futures. In addition, OneStar also operates a statewide VISTA intermediary project, the VolunteerTX statewide volunteer portal (www.volunteertx.org) and Texas Connector, an online, nonprofit geo-mapping tool that bridges the information gap between the areas served by nonprofits and underserved communities in Texas (www.texasconnects.org).

About Us

For almost four decades there has been an acknowledgement by the State of Texas of the critical importance of civic engagement to the strength of our communities. From the creation of the Texas Center for Volunteer Action in 1976 to the formation of its eventual successor, OneStar Foundation in 2004, Texas has maintained its support of a strong nonprofit and volunteer sector. Today, OneStar Foundation is recognized state-wide as the voice of the sector, a neutral convener and a respected business partner to foundations, state agencies, and the business community.
