Successful candidates will be responsible for identifying and reaching out to gang involved youth, with the goal of eliminating their attachment to gang activities and providing them with access to relevant resources, services, and institutions (i.e., social, health, education, training and employment). Successful candidates will provide pro-social role modeling for prospective clients, assist in community mobilization in the target area, and participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary intervention team tasked with providing wraparound services to each youth enrolled in intervention services.

Service Activities

1) Provides outreach services to youth at school, home, and institutional contacts
2) Recruits and retains participants by providing access to job training, resources, pro-social role modeling, and encouragement
3) Assesses needs of family members of the target populations' gang involvement, identifies gang-affected siblings of target participants, and provides outreach and information on resources
4) Serves as an advocate for project youth in securing social services, education, and job-related opportunities
5) Performs appropriate crisis responses, in conjunction with other agencies, following episodes of violence in the community
6) Serves on inter-agency intervention team as a client advocate in assessing need and accessing services
7) Maintains caseload up to 15 participants and their files paperwork, prepares and submits status reports
8) Attend all Spokane Service Team trainings and AmeriCorps national days of service
9) Maintain accurate and timely reports/timecards

This service will prevent at-risk youth from gang involvement and provide resources and advocacy for gang-involved youth and their families.
