READ Center Thrift Store Resource Coordinator

Providing service at both our Education and Art Center and our Resale store, the Coordinator will build capacity within the program to provide the support, skills and resources volunteers need to be successful in providing thrift store to the community, and to increase the access of children and families to community resources. The Coordinator will support the vision and mission of The READ Center and facilitate both internal and external communication, demonstrating a service-oriented work ethic that promotes teamwork, service, and participation. The goal of the program is to strengthen and build the capacity of our community and to reach more children, youth, and families by providing secondary needs such as education, art-as-therapy, and after school youth programs.

Service Activities

1) Directly manage incoming material donations and inventory control
2) Oversee incoming material donation pricing, staging, and signage
3) Serve as an ambassador for the READ Center and its mission in the community
4) Coordinate and supervise the training and daily work of volunteers, court referrals, and trainees
5) Develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff members, volunteers, agencies, community organizations, and students
6) Build capacity within the program to provide the support, skills, and resources volunteers need to be successful in providing secondary services to the community
7) Increase the access of children, families who face economic hardship to community resources
8) Oversee tasks such as maintaining client files, approving timesheets and reimbursements, and coordinating trainings and special events
9) Attend all Spokane Service Team trainings and AmeriCorps national days of service
10) Maintain accurate and timely reports and timecards

This position will address the need of everyday resources for low-income and homeless individuals and families.

Low-income and homeless individuals and families will have better access to everyday resources such a clothing, hygiene products, and furniture.
