We believe in new ways of teaching and new ways of learning. We do new teaching and learning through a non-traditional school model that empowers students to be successful in all areas in their lives. Dishman Hills High School is the oldest non-traditional high school in the Spokane area.
The READ Center is a Christian organization whose focus is to lift individuals to their full potential. Education includes GED and art-as-therapy. The goal is to teach skills, responsibility, and accountability through support, friends, focus, and purpose. The READ Center is an equal service and volunteer organization.
The central mission of the Spokane County Environmental Services department is to effectively manage the Spokane County Wastewater System and the Regional Solid Waste System, and to provide stewardship for the water resources of our region. Stewardship of our natural resources is becoming more critical. The Environmental Services department of Spokane County is tasked with environmental education focused on the natural and engineered water cycles and solid waste reduction and management.
YouthBuild Spokane is a program funded through the Department of Labor. The goals are to help 18-24 year-old youth obtain a GED, develop work-readiness skills, and transition to post-secondary school, an apprenticeship, or a job. The mission is to unleash the intelligence and positive energy of at-risk, low-income youth to rebuild their communities and their lives
