Description

Make a difference for Notre Dame Mission Volunteers - AmeriCorps and Community Life Services. Seeking two full-time members to serve August 15, 2024 to June 30, 2025. This is not an hourly paid position, but an AmeriCorps service program with the following benefits:
Living stipend of up to $29,000, pre-tax, distributed biweekly
Member health insurance
Housing assistance (subsidized rooms for rent available in Watsonville)
Student Loan Forbearance
Food Assistance as eligible
Childcare Assistance as eligible
Segal Education Award and California For All Education Award, totaling $10,000 pre-tax awarded after the successful completion of the service year.
Services at Community Life assist adults with disabilities to develop strong independent living and employment skills through 1:1 training that promotes independence, continuing education, community integration, employment discovery, experience, and planning. The Program Assistant position will support our Employment and Independent Living Specialists teams to meet the needs of the people we serve in the areas of education, technology and employment. The Program Assistants (AmeriCorps Members) will:
Provide 1:1 support and instruction to establish and achieve specific education, technology and/or employment goals.
Serve with our Employment Specialists as a team to identify potential paid internship opportunities based on clients needs and preferences.
Provide outreach and education to community members as identified.
Serve with Employment Specialists as a team to customize job development process and job coaching support for specific clients.
Develop trusting relationships to be able to provide career coaching and long term planning.
Consult with employers and supervisors to create opportunities for clients to meet their employment goals.
Assess strengths, capabilities, and skills as needed to provide instruction with an individual to support their exploration in paid and non paid employment.
Develop individual volunteer and paid opportunities for clients based on client needs and preferences with local area businesses.
Provide digital/ technology training and ongoing support as requested.
Complete short term projects like Access to Technology with seniors.
Provide technical and functional accommodation consultation to employers and clients when needed.
Provide community training about disability and workplace inclusion as needed.
Spanish communication skills preferred. Drivers license required and expectation to drive to client job sites/meetings as needed.
