Position

Recreational Trail Technician

Nevada Conservation Corps
No listings recruiting at this time

The Town of Eureka, NV, located along the Highway 50 corridor, in collaboration with Eureka County and the Bureau of Land Management Battle Mountain District Office is invested in the development of a non-motorized trail system on lands adjacent to Eureka, NV.

Great Basin Institute is hiring two Recreation Technicians to support phase one of The Eureka Non-Motorized Trail System Inventory and Assessment Project focused on the creation of a non-motorized trail system through surveying and assessing existing roads immediately adjacent and surrounding Eureka, NV. The inventory will focus on collecting GPS data for proposed trail routes, with emphasis on creating trail loops and incorporating current community use, and using the GPS data to create maps. The assessment will focus on the collection of trail route attribute data that will help inform the level of difficulty assigned to a specified trail loop (i.e. Percent Slope, Soil Characteristics, Water Flow, etc.), so that when finalized, routes can be assigned a level of difficulty ranging from beginner, to intermediate, to advanced.

The final product for this project will include a map of the proposed trail routes, a report detailing trail route attribute data, and level of difficulty assignments for each proposed trail route. The report will be submitted to the Town of Eureka, Eureka County, and the Bureau of Land Management Battle Mountain District Office for review.
