The NHC member’s primary activities will be providing Life Skills Education on topics of good health, nutrition, disease management, smoking cessation, healthy living habits, addiction recovery, stress reduction and assist residents to fulfill the educational, health and non-health, requirements of their individual Pathway Plan. The NHC member will continue to add topics to fully address the needs health and well-being needs of the homeless population. The NHC member provides a vital service to the clients of the Center offering health and nutrition education, reducing the stress associated with being homeless and unemployed. Sulzbacher Center would not be able to provide these critical components of health and non-health related education without the service of an NHC member.
The NHC member will serve in the Career Education Department assisting residents with job search activities which may include computer/digital literacy education or referring clients to the Goodwill Job Skills Education program. The member will help guide clients through the SNAP food assistance enrollment which is completed through an online portal was well as navigating them to other food pantries. The member will recruit residents for and facilitate Patient Care Technician training, Phlebotomy Technician training, and Medical Billing and Coding Training to Sulzbacher Center Residents to promote their professional development in the field of healthcare. The member will develop facilitate and manage a weekly healthy nutrition and cooking education program through collaboration with the Sulzbacher Health Clinic and Kitchen. The NHC member will provide support to residents seeking employment, facilitation and collaboration with community providers to provide residents with nutrition classes, healthy cooking, Smart Recovery, outreach to other service providers in the community for both heath related and non-health related topics. The member will assist people to secure housing, jobs and healthcare as it relates to usage of the Sulzbacher Computer Lab.
