Healthy Community Developer, Disaster

Assist the MRC (Medical Reserve Corps) coordinator on Emergency Preparedness presentation to be delivered to local organizations; give talks and demonstrations at health fairs and other community events on preparedness; recruit volunteers to become part of the MRC.

Service Activities

Assist in 20 Emergency Preparedness presentations and demonstrations reaching approximately 500 people, recruit 20 additional volunteers, and develop partnerships.

Community Need Addressed

Not enough volunteers to adequately prepare for a major disaster in West Virginia.

Position Outcomes

Increase awareness and knowledge of Medical Reserve Corps, increase number of volunteers in West Virginia.
