Description
Open Door Health Center (ODHC) is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center with a mission of advancing access to quality, affordable, culturally appropriate health care through patient-centered, collaborative medical, dental and behavioral health services for all people across southern Minnesota. Our primary and preventive healthcare services are uniquely targeted toward low-income, underserved individuals including immigrants and refugees. ODHC has a strong community health team that advocates for patients and assists with additional needs (often basic needs) for resources and information that may be identified during a routine dental, medical, or behavioral health appointment. Our Enrollment department assists individuals in exploring options and gaining health insurance coverage through the MNsure Health insurance marketplace, including renewals and follow-up for Federal, State and private insurance plans. The VISTA will work closely with our Outreach, Enrollment and Community Health teams toward advancing the “Southern Minnesota Health Education Outreach” Project, which aims to promote health education and access to information and resources on a grassroots level in the communities we serve. ---This project is part of the College Health Corps (CHC) VISTA Program, operated by Minnesota Campus Compact. The CHC increases low-income individuals’ access to health care, health education, food, and basic needs through capacity building projects, including partnerships between higher education and community based organizations. Professional development focuses on health equity, the social determinants of health, and effective partnership development. --- ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor. Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
