SMASE serves moderate to severely disabled Navajo children and adults with comprehensive day and residential services. Programs include fully-licensed and certified special education classrooms, skilled nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, adaptive ancillary programs, community integration, and service-learning. Volunteers are needed to work in professional (physical, occupational, or speech therapists and special ed. teachers) or paraprofessional (teaching assistant or caregiver) positions as part of a comprehensive team that moves every client or student towards meeting their full potential in life.

Quarterly retreats are hosted by Mercy Volunteer Corps to provide volunteers with opportunities for reflection, spiritual growth, and shared experiences. Throughout the service, Mercy Volunteer Corps provides volunteers with webinars for personal and professional development.
