The Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness is dedicated to creating a sustainable statewide voice and the infrastructure and systemic change needed to empower communities to end homelessness.

  • About Us
The Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness oversees Michigan's Campaign to End Homelessness AmeriCorps State Program and the Capacity Building to End Homelessness AmeriCorps VISTA Project.

The AmeriCorps State program is a statewide program that places 23 AmeriCorps members at homeless service agencies each year. Our members serve in one of the three following positions: Housing Search and Information Specialist, Outreach Specialist, and Income Generation and Management Specialist. Members provide direct, comprehensive services to individuals experiencing or at-risk of homelessness.

The AmeriCorps VISTA Project is a statewide project that places 8 VISTA members at homeless service agencies each year. VISTA members provide indirect, capacity-building services in order to increase the capacity, resources, scope, and reach of service providers in order to help them better serve their communities in a sustainable way.
  • Our Impact
AmeriCorps State members will be serving individuals experiencing homelessness or those at-risk of homelessness. Throughout the service year, members will be working closely with individuals to assist with getting them engaged in care, obtaining housing, and increasing their self-sufficiency in the areas of income, life skills, and employment.

AmeriCorps VISTA members will be providing capacity building services in the following service focus areas: Community Awareness & Engagement, Expanding/Strengthening Partnerships & Networks, Financial Resources, and Volunteer Generation and Management.
