Do you see the potential in young people? Are you passionate about building community? Are you looking to further your education and career?

Serve as an AmeriCorps Massachusetts Promise Fellow to support young people throughout the Commonwealth in out-of-school time programs, join a team of committed corps members passionate about creating social change, and further your education through the opportunity to pursue free coursework at Northeastern University!

Fellows are emerging leaders that spend a year of their lives delivering the resources that young people need to be successful in life by providing out-of-school-time opportunities for youth in grades 6-12 focused on college and career exploration and academic enrichment. During a year of AmeriCorps service, Fellows serve full-time for eleven months with non-profit organizations, schools, and state and local agencies throughout the Commonwealth. Since 1999, over 500 Fellows have mobilized community activity in a variety of ways, including:

• Designing and leading out-of-school time programs focused on academic enrichment
• Delivering college and career exploration curricula for young people
• Creating meaningful relationships with youth
• Recruiting and managing volunteers

Living Allowance

$1200 - $1200 monthly

Additional Benefits

Benefits: For an eleven month full-time commitment and 1,700 hours of AmeriCorps service Fellows receive: • A taxable living allowance of $15,500/eleven months • Excellent training opportunities • FREE courses at Northeastern University in the College of Professional Studies & discounted courses upon successfully completing the service year • Loan forbearance and a $6,095 educational award • Monthly travel allowance •Career coaching and support • Healthcare reimbursement

Qualifications:

• Experience working with young people
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Passionate about social justice
• An interest in and commitment to national and community service
• The desire to work with diverse communities
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Professional and mature
• 17 years of age or older
• Must be a US Citizen, US National or Permanent Resident Alien
• Must be willing to comply with a criminal background check and FBI fingerprint check
