Massachusetts has it all -- beautiful beaches and mountains, world class museums, an abundance of colleges and universities, and a vibrant restaurant, theatre, comedy and music scene. However, not everyone in Massachusetts has access to the benefits of living in this wonderful state. Low literacy and high  drop-out rates plague our urban areas. High housing costs lead to economic instability for new immigrants and refugees and low-income families. And our natural resources need to be protected so they can be enjoyed by future generations. Through a service year, you can help tackle these issues and improve communities across Massachusetts.

Why Serve in Massachusetts?

Massachusetts understands and values the power of service. With AmeriCorps and Commonwealth Corps members serving at 326 organizations across the state, there are countless opportunities to serve. Our organizations understand the importance of supporting service year corps members so that members grow and develop into service leaders. The Massachusetts Service Alliance (MSA), a nonprofit organization that acts as the State Commission on service and volunteerism, supports these organizations. People who serve in Massachusetts are assured of having a great service year opportunity that allows them to develop their own knowledge and skills while making a measurable difference in the lives of others. We see time and again that our members turn their service year into their life’s work and passion.
