Description

Maine Campus Compac t (MCC) is a statewide coalition of colleges and universities whose purpose is to further the public purposes and civic mission of higher education. Through MCC’s new Maine Partnership for Environmental Stewardship (MPES) Initiative, 6 Quarter Time AmeriCorps members will join a team of 38 AmeriCorps to build partnerships between community organizations and college campuses at 6 sites throughout Maine to effect behavioral and technical change leading to energy efficiency, particularly for economically disadvantaged Mainers. Through
campus/community partnerships focused on reducing energy and light weatherization services, MPES AmeriCorps Members will increase energy efficiency and cost savings for economically disadvantaged populations, community organizations and non-profit higher educational institutions.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
● Obtain knowledge of local low income community and needs around energy efficiency.
● Serve as a liaison connecting community members with the MPES program
● Establish rapport, build trust, and provide info on MPES programs to the local community
● Help develop Community Advisory Board with 6-10 volunteers
● Promote and help plan/implement Community Energy Education Events
● Recruit participants, disseminate flyers, and talk with interested community members
● Promote, recruit for, and help implement Window Insert Builds and Community Green
Certification Audits
● Attend MPES community events and provide information as needed
● Participate in general career development
● Attend trainings and develop career action plan

Required qualifications:
•Applicants must be at least 17 years old and a US citizen
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Well-developed organizational abilities
• Strong team member and leaderships skills
• Knowledge/experience with community engagement, partnership building, and volunteer recruitment
• Motivated, independent worker
• Knowledge of local community needs and resources
• Valid driver’s license and car

Preferred qualifications:
• Prior work with community partners and/or college students
• Experience with environmental stewardship or energy efficiency initiatives
• Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable speaking in public
• Volunteer management and event planning experience

$1400 - $1400 monthly
