We are looking for passionate people to fight poverty as AmeriCorps VISTA members at institutes of high education around Maine. Each member will serve at a college or community organization for a one-year term. At your site, you will develop and coordinate programs that will increase the capacity of campuses to provide student volunteers to serve low-income K-12 students, encourage and implement Maine initiatives that have the potential to link K-12 schools and higher education to strengthen STEM programs, or help raise awareness and mobilize colleges throughout Maine to address hunger for low income individuals and to provide a platform for Maine students to address food insecurity on their campuses and in their communities

Service Activities

Maine Campus Compact VISTAs spend a year of service on college campuses in Maine. Their service entails: collaborating with students, faculty, staff and community partners to develop programming on campuses focused on improving college aspirations, STEM Learning, or Food Security on Campus. Members of the MCC VISTA team serve in a wide variety of communities on campuses of all types — small and large, public and private — in all corners of the state. They meet regularly throughout the year for training and networking.
