Description
AmeriCorps Members are the hands and the heart of our work. We believe that showing love to each individual mom is what makes our mission successful, and AmeriCorps are first and foremost those community-builders. You will be responsible for living in the homes alongside moms and other volunteers sharing meals, doing chores, celebrating accomplishments, and working through hard things together. You’ll take initiative in a variety of situations that range from a mom going into labor, to roommate conflicts, to showing hospitality to visitors. You will be responsible for creating a safe, welcoming, home-like environment for the moms so they can focus on achieving their goals. In addition to providing loving support and cultivating community, AmeriCorps members are responsible for executing position work and practicing time management in one of the following positions: house manager, programs coordinator, volunteer coordinator, or donations and house operations coordinator (DHOPS). Positions are selecting following hire.
Our two live-out AmeriCorps members will work at our Family Success Center to help support our Alumni mom program and child enrichment program. Duties may include (and are not limited to): office tasks, facilitating one-on-one contact meetings with former Maggie's Place residents, coordinating child care, developing/facilitating programming, organizing/distributing donations, and assisting with intake phone calls and interviews.
