Lutheran Volunteer Corps is a full-time service and leadership program operating in cities across the U.S. Our mission: to unite people to work for peace with justice. We do this by placing approximately 50 Volunteers in full-time positions at social justice organizations. Year Volunteers live together in intentional community, practicing simple and sustainable living, while exploring spirituality. LVC offers housing for yearlong service, modest stipend, health insurance, and paid vacation time.
This position: This position will be one main goal in two different areas. This position will lead, build sustainable programming and record keeping for volunteers in the volunteer engagement department and in our Urban Farms.
This position contributes to the fulfillment of Open Arms’ mission by assisting the farm coordinator with leading volunteers to help in our urban farm operations and CSA program and building support for our Open Farms program while in season. Additionally, this position is responsible leading volunteers in planting, harvesting, preparing, packaging and delivery of vegetables, as well as maintaining and developing communications and relationships with volunteers and donors of Open Arms. The person in this position must enjoy working closely with volunteers, as she/he will supervise and closely interface with hundreds of volunteers over the growing season. As with all OAM staff positions, this position is responsible for helping ensure volunteers and interns have an exemplary experience during all interactions with Open Arms, and is expected to consistently maintain a high level of customer service to all guests, clients and fellow team members. Between growing seasons this position will assist the Volunteer Engagement department with recruiting and leading volunteers in the kitchen and delivery. This position may make deliveries of food to clients. Also during the non-planting season this position wil assist the Volunteer Engagement Deaprtment with events that are volunteer driven, especially in November and December.

Additional Benefits
All Volunteers are expected to cover the cost of their own travel to the program at the beginning, and back home at the end. All housing is furnished, so Volunteers need to bring with them personal items and bedding.
