Description

Lutheran Volunteer Corps is a full-time service and leadership program operating in cities across the U.S. Our mission: to unite people to work for peace with justice. We do this by placing approximately 50 Volunteers in full-time positions at social justice organizations. Year Volunteers live together in intentional community, practicing simple and sustainable living, while exploring spirituality. LVC offers housing for yearlong service, modest stipend, health insurance, and paid vacation time.

This position: The Minneapolis Area Synod has a public responsibility for the sake of the world. The LVC Communications, Administrative, and Development Associate contributes to this effort by providing hospitality to those who come to the synod office, creating clear communication through different mediums, and supporting the capital campaign which aims to raise up leaders in diverse communities.

About half the position will be working with translation and non-complicated interpretation with members of Lutheran congregations or other community leaders who primarily or exclusively speak Spanish. In addition, there will be work in English (and Spanish?) with social media and other communications. Depending on interest another 20% of the position can be somewhat flexible, perhaps working with one of our Lilly Endowment Inc. grants.

Translation of communication with our Spanish-language or bilingual congregations
Interpretation of 1:1 meetings between staff and leaders of those communities
Develop materials in Spanish for use by those communities
Occasional writing of articles, blogs, etc. for synod communications
Social media, under direction of Comms Team
