For the beginning of my last year of college I was reluctant to reach the end. I felt as if graduation meant the end of my education as I knew it. Though I may have been right, I want to serve because I want to continue to be a student. I want to leave the bubble of a classroom and learn first hand about what interests me. I think that City Year and those that make City Year possible will give me the privilege to access and share knowledge. I strongly believe that access to good education is extremely important. I want to spend my next year investing time and effort into helping City Year as I am needed. I want to find purpose in improving education. I also want to learn about America's educational institutions. I would like to understand the systems that exist. Lastly, I want to serve because I believe in school. I think should be a place to make friends, feel comfortable, learn about yourself, be inspired, and feel empowered. I love working with kids and I think that the environment a school has to offer is important. I want to be a positive influence in that environment.
