Maintain a safe, healthy, and productive environment for those experiencing homelessness in the employment program, coordinate volunteers, and help facilitate and maintain regular editorial content for the newspaper, annual vendor zine and social media channels. We are looking for one person to serve in Portland and one in Seattle. This position begins on August 5, 2019 and ends on July 31, 2020. Community Need Addressed

Jesuit Volunteer (JV)/AmeriCorps members will assist those experiencing homelessness through supporting vendors who are currently homeless that are selling newspapers on the street, coordinating volunteers, and be the first person of contact for those in the employment program.

Position Outcomes

Through your service, you will help your agency build capacity so they can serve more clients.

JV/AmeriCorps members invest hundreds of hours developing professional and personal skills during their service year. You would discern career and vocational pathways in which to share your gifts and skills beyond the service year. Additionally, you would share home, meals, and the highs and lows of life with other members, forming deep and often lifelong relationships during their year. Post-service, you would join a network of over 7,000 other former JVs who served with our program, and for those who were AmeriCorps members, they join the network of over one million members with whom to network and connect.
